I'm a social worker who is currently working w/ at risk teenage girls.  I've found that in this environment the girls need constant empowerment, love, structure, positive male and female role models as well as a LOT of understanding when it comes to each of their individual backgrounds.  I unfortunately have to do a lot of damage control due their high levels of cutting themselves and suicide attempts.  These girls come from various backgrounds of physical/sexual abuse, pregnancy (sometimes from their own fathers), drugs, homelessness and being pimped out by their families for drugs. 

I've interned in many different arenas in the Social work field. Therefore my many interests in saving the world include: Art Therapy for at risk youth, group counseling for inner city youth, drug education/prevention, performing psycho socials on high to low functioning mentally ill patients, serving food in soup kitchens, group therapy w/ at risk parents and lecturing in Detroit Public Schools about the Youth Enrichment Achievement programs our community center has to offer (for free no less).

My biggest achievements in life:  Being a mom to my hilarious son, attaining my BSW and pursuing my MSW as well as devloping inner strength and self worth when my past didn't assist me in either.  Oh, and that after being in the school of hard knocks back in the day, I can still have a goofy sense of humor and love life!
